This guided walking tour meets in front of the Rossdale Community League Building (historic Little Flower School) at 10135 – 96 Ave. and proceeds to the Traditional Burial Ground and Fort Edmonton Cemetery Commemorative Site, which provides a good view of the historic Rossdale Generating Station. The tour will provide information about the significance of the area with a special focus on the Rossdale Generating Station (Maxwell Dewar Building/Low Pressure power plant), which was designated a Provincial Historic Resource in 2001. Parking is available behind the community league building.
Allan Partridge is an award-winning Edmonton architect with expertise in combining technology and design in an Integrated Practice setting. His projects have included heritage buildings such as the Legislature Building upgrades, Immigration Hall - Hope Mission, and a study for EPCOR on Rossdale Adaptive Reuse. He is a speaker at national and international conferences on Building Information Modeling and on Heritage and Conservation Management.
Cultural consultant Catherine C. Cole is a local historian whose most recent book GWG: Piece by Piece, a history of Edmonton’s Great Western Garment Company has won several awards. She was the heritage consultant for the West Rossdale Urban Design Plan and has three ancestors buried in the Fort Edmonton Cemetery at Rossdale.
